Portrait of the Right Honorable William Pitt Amherst (1773–1857), Lord Amherst, Governor General of India: this image came from a picture by Sir Thomas Lawrence, Principle Painter in Ordinary to His Majesty P.R.A., painted for the British Factory at Canton upon his Lordship's return from his Embassy to China. It was engraved by Charles (Chas.) Turner, Mezzotinto Engraver in Ordinary to His Majesty, and published on May 24, 1824 by Mess.rs Colnaghi Son & Co Printsellers to the King Pall Mall East.[2]
